One tip is…keep her nails trimmed regularly from the very begining. this will keep the “quicks” back so the nails won’t grow so long. How about the name Chiquita?

Having a new dog is great! At first a new dog may seem overwelming, but don’t lose hope! You and you’re new chihuahua need to settle in. Remember to care for your pet. Pets are apart of a family! They can’t be neglected. I’m sure your dog will love you if you remember to feed it and give it fresh water daily, and pay attention to her daily. (remember to giving baths, walks, & pet her )

Its not as hard as people say it is, and you’ll have a blast with your chihuahua! I like the names Sugar, Princess (Prinny for short!), Lina, and Trixie

on the first night you get it don’t scream and run up to it. i did it peed all over me. dogs don’t actually need THAT much care aslong as you give it lots of cuddles and don’t yell at it alot. for feeding you can give it proper meals in the morning and night or you can give it your breakfast scraps they eat everthing. take it for walks as much as you can and pick up its poo at least twice a week.as for names how bout a liquir name like burbon or tequila lol. i have a dog called dixie and another named roxy. there are lots of names try looking up dog names on the net.
hope this helps the guy that called it a rat is a d**k
get a black chihuahua there the bestest

There are many good books available on caring for dogs and puppies. Try your local pet store or Amazon.com. The subject is just too broad and involved to give you everything you need here. If you have specific questions, please e-mail me off list. You can reach me through my web site at. There is lots of information there and a links page for additional information. I adore this breed and will be glad to answer any questions you might have. I do hope you have found a decent, local breeder. Buying over the internet and from pet shops is an invitation to disappointment and/or tragedy.

awww ive had 4 chihuahuas!! they are adorable. they really like to bark at things though. uhhm they have alot of energy and i mean ALOT so take her outside every hour or so and play with her or she’ll run wild in your house. get her alot of chew toys like bones because chihuahuas love to chew on things. restroom train her the very first day you get her or itll be alot of work training her when she gets older. train her not to bite even when shes playing. oh and some good names ive had for my female ones were princess and angel. oh yeah and one more thing, give her lots and lots of love! goodluck, hope that helped some

    Just a couple of tips.
1:always eat something in front of the dog before you feed it.(this shows the dog your the boss.)
2:Ignore the dog 15mins before leaving her alone and do the same when you return.(this stops the dog getting anxious while your away.)

chew toys, chew toys, chew toys, definatley keep her nails trimmed, remember shes a dog let her run and play dont keep her in your handbag all the time it looks cute but its not healthy for the dog, have patience, soft food causes soft poo, give her a crate thats her place all dogs need “their place”, take lots of pictures, and dogs need to potty as soon as they wake up from night and naps and shortly after food and drink..good luck

There are so many things to know about caring for a dog. Chihuahuas also have special needs because they are small and fragile. You’ll have to be gentle with her so she is ok.

You can get books on how to take care of puppies or your new dog. To train her, try a book on positive or clicker training. This works best and is the easiest. You should also start thinking about what food you want to feed her. Nutro and California Natural are good brands.
Plan to crate train your dog- it will help potty training go much faster. You should leave your dog in the crate while you aren’t home, and take her out as soon as you get back so she’ll learn to go outside.
Get your dog microchipped. You never want to lose your dog, and microchips help bring her back to you if she gets lost.
Spay your dog. It will make life easier on you and it’s what’s best for her.

please remember to walk the dog every day. not just 5 mins around the block or just letting it out in the yard. chihuahuas ar cute and small but that does not mean that they do not need daily exercise. chihuahuas are known for being yappy so keep it socialized by dogs and humans(make this socialization a positive experience). DO NOT pick it up when it starts yapping. pull the collar firmly (but not pulling the dog or anything. only a little is good. just to get his/her attention) and say NO. firmly and you have to MEAN it. think powerful thoughts when you say this.

also. dont ever buy a purse for the chihuahua.

Tip: When she is doing something wrong, don’t act out of anger which is easier to do than people think, instead, think about the situation it’s in and discipline it properly.

Well, as for names. It really depends on the dog’s personality. if she’s energetic she could be Sugar cuz she acts like she’s sugar-high. or if she’s calm it could be a type of flower or bird. you know, something out of nature. as for care, your dog’s vet is most important to ask. if you adopt her, ask about food types, toys, stuff that makes her sick. make sure her coat stays clean, and make sure she has no fleas. if she needs exercise, she’ll need it reguraly. find out how often she needs to be fed, but she should always have water. make sure she has tags on her collar so if she gets lost, she can be found and you can be notified. teach her basic commands like sit, stay, and lie down. she’ll also need a place to sleep, and in the beginnng, have her use the bathroom on newspaper while you pottytrain her. you might want a doggy door so she can use the bathroom when she needs to. play with her and don’t let her get lonely. soon you’ll have a happy, healthy chihuahua!

This is very important if you do not want her to grow up to be a spastic dog, espessially important for chihuahuas. when you get her dont get her too overwelmed. be gentle and calm if thats how you want her to be! names, hmm…….. Missy, Caroline carrie for short, winnie, idk.. thumbelina?.?
