I need to know things like can they eat table food every once in a while or is that bad for them? How cold is too cold to leave them outside? She is about 4 years old. Chocolate Lab.

It is always a bad idea to give them human food. No matter what. Then they get a taste for it and start begging, not only that but their systems aren’t made for it. I always brought my choc lab in if it was below 45*. She needs consistent exercize, labs need it moreso than other breeds to stay healthy and happy and live a long time.
No table scraps, I have three labs and it only makes them beg more than they already do and make them fat. labs can’t get fat because they are prone to hip displaisure (however its spelled), excess weight only makes this worse and you have to figure 5lbs on a dog is like 30-50 on us, thats a lot of excess weight. They need firm handling and training and exercise, please no table scraps at all, they are perfectly happy with their dog food and cold isn’t an issue, my second lab would sleep in the snow all night, he refused to come in, they have excess layers of fur to help keep them warm and water proof!
Oh poo! Yes you can feed your dog tables scraps! Everything in moderation. Make sure you don’t feed it things like “grapes/raisins, onions, garlic, black walnuts…” and so forth. There are some foods that are dangerous to dogs. But if you eat a steak and cut the fat off the steak feel free to give it to the dog. Some people REALLY over think things when it comes to pets. Use commons sense. Don’t feed the dog a big chocolate cake. But you can share your morning eggs and biscuits. As far as the dog Begging? Train it NOT to beg. It’s simple. The exercise is super important to the dog. Don’t let it lay around and get fat.
labs are very tough and energetic dogs be careful about table food you don’t want to spoil them then they wont want their actual dog food. and don’t worry about the cold labs are designed for cold weather they can dive into a lake in freezing cold weather and be just fine just make sure if you leave your lab outside it has a nice warm bead maybe an old blanket or dog house. be sure to keep your dog active and don’t leave anything around that your afraid of getting chewed labs have this weird habit they will chew anything and everything for about two years. i had one once that would sit there and eat sticks so yeah they are weird about that.so you don’t have to worry about labs to much just make sure they don’t chew on anything that could be harmful to your lab.
Think 15 year old teen living in your house. Love to eat & play. People food bad. If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them.
I wouldn’t suggest giving them table food because we made that mistake and everytime we ate we couldn’t get him away from us.
We fed ours dry Iams and moist Science Diet food for a long time.
They can usually stand cold tempteratures, but that doens’t mean they want to. You can let them out during the winter months to play in the snow, but when they seem like they are tired make sure you are ready to let them in.
He lived to be 13 years old
He was such a good boy. He had to be put down today because he was too old to walk and very sick.
