How Much on Average Does a Dog Cost?

I am thinking about getting a border terrier mix. How much on average does vet care for a dog. If you have links that would be cool, (about their health ect.) And dog supplies (food, toys, ect.) monthly.
Getting him neutered comes with the adoption fee… He’s a puppy.
I’m getting him from a shelter.

    about 3500 bucks

but do know that dogs wont live as long as you so one day you will be hurt.

    A lot

His food cost $100, which lasts an entire month
use to give him garbage food because i didn’t know :( So, that food din’t do him any good, so to get him back together it was problably roughly $300
His vaccines and rabies shots and stuff like that each cost like $50
Umm.. to get him neutered.. it was I think $120
Oh and just to have the vet see him is like $40 .. JUST to see him
So, each month it cost atleast $100 .. unless he needs to go to the vet.

You dont need anything fancy. You can pay $50 and it might be the best dog you ever have. Vet bills and food are not cheap though

  7. Mastiff Mommy says:

Ok, average price of dog- 100-200 bucks if from the pound..
Food- Cheapest.. 50 bucks a month depending on the size of your dog-

Vet bills? With a puppy,, You have shots, flea meds, Spay, and extra vet visits for what ever they decide to get into( Violet got in the garage ate a can of bearing grease(500) not too long after that she ate a few Christmas ornaments (600)..
    Depends on your dog
Lastly- Toys.. Depends on what he likes.. maybe starts at 100- then after that every month you getthem like 1 new toy.. Just so they stay entertained. Leashes food dishes, collars,
It’s pricey- But if you can afford it and have the time- They are so worth it

only 30 to 300 bucks, already spayed and nuetered if you go to a sHELTER!! DO NOT GO TO A PET STORE!! THEY GET THEIR DOGS FROM PUPPY MILLS!!! THEY WILL HAVE HEALTH CONDITIONA AND COST A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT ONE FROM A SHELTER< IT WILL NEED A HOME!!!!!! DONT GO TO A PET STORE ATHEY ARE CRUEL!!! PLEASE DONT!!!

  9. Mutt for the Truth says:

Startup fees can be anywhere from a total of $600 to over $1,000 (for the dog, start up supplies, and first vet check.) Monthly fees are around $150. Vet fees about $400 a year not including emergencies, which can cost well over $400 in one go.

Then there are always boarding, training, grooming, and other fees that may or may not apply.

Dogs are not cheap. If you don’t have a steady job and/or a reliable way to bring in enough money to care for yourself, your home AND the dog….. then do not get a dog. Animals do not live paycheck to paycheck, you MUST have some money saved up that you can use should you need to.

anywhere from 100-10,000ish? It all depends on the dog..

Let’s say you’re adopting from a local shelter as opposed to buying from a breeder. By doing so, you’ll save hundreds of dollars–and possibly take advantage of the spay / neuter surgery that many shelters include in the price of adoption. That said, you can still expect to spend between $795 to $1725 the first year, just for the basics.
