it could be something as small and minimal like an ant bite or something more serious like an infection. Can you describe what the bump looks like?
Check it carefully to see if there is a puncture wound caused by a thorn or wasp sting.
Bath it with warm salt water, and put some antiseptic cream on it, make sure the dog doesn’t lick it off.
Keep an eye on it for a couple of days, and if it isn’t better, go to a vet.
Sounds like a cyst but I can’t be sure of that. He would need a vet to diagnose properly.
It could even be a tumour and so shouldn’t be left.
Your dog may have an infection or an ongoing irritation that is causing this red bump to grow on him. If your dog is light colored, this could be an irritation caused by the sun. There is also a possibility that this lump is some sort of cancerous growth. You should have your dog examined by a veterinarian. He or she can perform a needle biopsy to determine what this lump is and what the best method of treatment is for it. The lump may need to be surgically removed or your veterinarian may want to prescribe an antibiotic or anti-inflammatory cream to help resolve this problem. Hope this helped!!!
can you post a picture
Is it gross looking?
You’re in luck — it’s an interdigital cyst. Easily and cheaply treated at home. By the way, one of the very few gross looking things that are appropriate for home treatment.
Go to the pharmacy or local grocery store. Get Hydrogen Peroxide and Epsom’s Salts. Under $5.
Use a coffee cup, fill with pretty warm water and a couple of spoons full of Epsom’s salts dissolved it it. Soak affected paw 3-4 times a day for at least 10 minutes. More often is better! After the soak, dump on some hydrogen peroxide. Put a bath towel on your lap to keep you from getting soaked.
This will open and drain. Keep up with the soaks and hydrogen peroxide until healed. It really doesn’t take all that long.
Common ailment, no biggie, but is sure looks gross!
It is probably an interdigital cyst.
Soak it in warm water with epsom salts.
Does it look like this? it can be under the paw also.
