After all of that stuff that happened last year with the pet foods being dangerous, I want to start making my dog’s food at home. Is there a website that has recipes and tips for preparing homemade meals for my pets? Also, my Jack Russel has an allergy to gluten and it’s almost ipossible to find dog food that is gluten free.
Oh, and here’s a pic of one of my beloved dogs.

There’s a great forum for homecooking:
Here is a list of grain-free formulas:
Nature’s Variety Instinct
Wellness CORE
Orijen
Innova EVO
Go! Natural
Solid Gold Barking at the Moon
Taste of the Wild
Grain-free formulas usually have either tapioca/potato as the “binder” instead of wheat, grain, corn, etc. They’re a great alternative for homecooking.
Another ton of free recipes…
Dogs have generally the same dietary needs as humans. So healthy human food (along with a dog multivitamin) will work for dogs. There are some great dog cookbooks out there. Just be sure to avoid the danger foods:
* Chocolate
* Grapes
* Raisins
* Onions
* Tomatoes
* Caffeinated beverages
* Garlic
* Macadamia nuts
* Cooked bones (chicken, turkey, pork, beef)
* Walnuts
P.S. Remember to switch to homemade food gradually so his stomach doesn’t get upset.
Actually, there are a lot of dog food companies that are going totally grain and gluten free and they are high quality companies that you don’t need to worry about being dangerous or recalled.
If you really want to do a home diet, there is RAW, BARF and other good means of doing it, but it is certainly not the only way to go.
I have been feeding my dogs this with great results and it says “Gluten Free” right on the bag. &-session=naturesvariety:4C12D28602b0036F6EyXxT21A667
